Often you may want to convert minutes to hours in Google Sheets.
Fortunately this is easy to do and this tutorial explains how to make the following conversions in Google Sheets:

The following examples show how to make each of these conversions in practice with the following dataset in Google Sheets:
Example 1: Convert Minutes to Hours in Google Sheets
To convert hours to minutes in Google Sheets, we simply need to divide the minutes by 60.
To do so, we can type the following formula into cell C2:
=B2/60
We can then drag and fill this formula down to each remaining cell in column C:
Column C now displays the minutes in column B in terms of hours.
For example:
- 30 minutes is equal to 0.5 hours.
- 35 minutes is equal to 0.5833 hours.
- 71 minutes is equal to 1.1833 hours.
And so on.
Example 2: Convert Minutes to Hours & Minutes in Google Sheets
To convert hours to hours and minutes in Google Sheets, we need to use two steps.
Step 1: Divide Minutes by 1440
First, we need to divide the minutes by 1440.
To do so, we can type the following formula into cell C2:
=B2/1440
We can then drag and fill this formula down to each remaining cell in column C:
Step 2: Format the Cells
Next, we need to format the cells so the values are shown in terms of hours and minutes.
To do so, highlight the cells in the range C2:C11, then click the Format tab, then click Number, then click Custom number format:
In the new window that appears, type [h]:mm and then click Apply:
The cells will automatically be formatted as hours and minutes:
For example:
- 30 minutes is equal to 0 hours and 30 minutes.
- 35 minutes is equal to 0 hours and 35 minutes.
- 71 minutes is equal to 1 hour and 11 minutes.
And so on.
